POSSIBILITIES IN COMMUNITIES

TransAlta doesn't just supply electricity to surrounding regions, we are a large source of employment, provide work for area contractors and suppliers, support local initiatives, and have an effect on the day-to-day activities of those who live or work near our facilities. We are a part of the communities where we operate.

Giving back, with dollars, volunteer hours, in-kind donations and expertise, helps make our communities better places to live, work and play. TransAlta is committed to supporting activities that keep our communities vibrant and strong. We encourage and create opportunities for our employees to lend a hand in our communities. On average, TransAlta employees provide over 27,000 volunteer hours annually.

TransAlta has a number of ongoing partnerships that will have a meaningful impact over a long term. Some of our flagship programs include:

-Calgary Stampede (Calgary, Alberta)
-Centralia College (Centralia, Washington)
-Light Up The World (Peru)
-TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre (Spruce Grove)
-United Way (Canada and Lewis County Washington)
-Sustainable employment, sponsorships and support for economic development in Aboriginal communities near our operations
