TransAlta owns and operates Keephills 3, a coal facility that uses new technology to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, compared to the older plants, extending the life of our coal operations while reducing our environmental footprint. Once we close down a mine, our reclamation team works to restore the area to equal or better than the land prior to mining use.
