ABOUT THE ROLE

 

The Change and Release Analyst will work with IT teams in TransAlta to ensure coordination of IT changes and releases are delivered following company policy, processes and best practice. Additionally, the role will require the analyst to perform the day-to-day management of change requests and processes including reviewing change plans, understanding impact analyses, and assess change readiness. When available, this role will also take on business analysis work to support project delivery and other ITSM principles. 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Help design release processes from build, through test and to the release of new or changed software into production 

  • Coordinate changes and releases to ensure that the integrity of the production environment is protected.

  • Monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of the Change and Release management process across the organization and make recommendations for improvement.

  • Ensure all IT teams follow the release management process for all releases and escalates any repeated non-conformity.

  • Maintain quality checks on releases

  • Coordinate IT releases

  • Provide communication and information, including relevant release documentation, as required.

  • Coordinate the implementation of changes and releases

  • Carry out regular reviews of the change and release processes with business and IT stakeholders

  • Provide input for the change and release policy based on ITIL principles.

  • Assist teams with completing change management assessments

  • Measure against Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to determine performance of the processes, providing reports to leadership

  • Work with project stakeholders to gather and analyse requirements

  • Ensure that changes and releases have met regulatory compliance

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • ITIL Foundation required, ITIL Practitioner preferred.

  • At least 1-year ITIL change experience with a college diploma, or university degree

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and handle work pressures to successfully deliver releases.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations

  • Problem solving and root cause identification skills

  • Proactive and self-starter

  • Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others

 

Beneficial Experience:

  • ITIL qualification is desirable but not essential

  • Release and Service Management experience

  • Experience with ServiceNow

  • Knowledge of DevOps, sprint planning and SDLC
