ABOUT THE ROLE

 

TransAlta has an opportunity for an Insurance Analyst to join our team.  This role is based out of our Head Office in Downtown Calgary, with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.

 

Reporting to the Director, Insurance (interim), this role will support in the execution and administration of all aspects of the corporate insurance function.

 

The Insurance Analyst has responsibility for claims handling, contract review, assessing vendor insurance compliance under the ISN certification program, premium allocations, risk control administration, fire impairments and the annual insurance renewal submission.

 

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

 

  • Hold primary responsibility for ISN vendor insurance variances
  • Under the guidance of a supervisor, administration and negotiation of insurance claims with a goal to close the claims in a timely and efficient manner with maximum recovery
  • Work with cross functional teams and develop a strong relationship with brokers and adjusters
  • Administration of risk control surveys and all associated activities
  • Produce claims reports and other insurance reports as required
  • Assist in the completion of the insurance renewal submission for all lines of coverage
  • Calculate insurance premium allocations for all locations
  • Administration of the fire impairment process
  • Responsibility for certificates of insurance and requesting certificates on behalf of business units as required
  • Review, evaluate and provide recommendations on risks and wording of insurance clauses in contracts

 

 

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

 

  • Degree in Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field
  • Certified Risk Manager (CRM) and/or Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or be working toward completion
  • 3 – 5 years of prior insurance experience is preferred. Candidates with less experience may be considered for a position at an appropriate level
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a complex and fast-paced environment
  • This position requires occasional travel. The successful individual should be comfortable with heights and willing to work additional hours to meet deadlines, for travel, or as required
  • Hold a valid drivers’ license
