JOB SUMMARY

TransAlta is currently seeking a professional student for a full-time, co-op assignment in our Shared Services team. We are looking for a self-starter, highly motivated Business Administration co-op student with exceptional customer service skills to support our administrative and accounts payable teams. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to various departments and staff, in alignment with established service level agreements.

 

This job opportunity will be locally based at our Head Office in Calgary, Alberta. The ideal start date for this position is end of April / early May 2021 for either a 4-month or 8-month work term.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

When you join us you will be:

  • Accountable to partner with the administrative and accounts payable team to provide proactive, accurate, organized and efficient administrative support as outlined in the Service Catalogue, which includes but is not limited to:
    • Invoicing and payment support
    • Maintaining databases, filing, and scanning documentation
    • Balancing and processing expense reports
    • Travel logistics
    • Event Coordination
    • Preparation and distribution of memos, presentations, reports and spreadsheets using MS Word, Excel, SAP, and PowerPoint
  • Manage information flow between departments, responding to inquiries, and providing assistance and direction in a timely manner
  • Accountable to act as the main contact for areas within the corporation for coordination of projects, floor moves, IT, onboarding/off boarding, procurement, and SharePoint maintenance
  • Accountable for supporting key HR activities including onboarding new employees or contractors and preparation of employee change documentation
  • Accountable for administering IT system access requests for the team
  • Provide designated back-up support to other assistants within the team or as requested
  • Qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration, or equivalent. 
  • Third- or fourth-year student preferred
  • Enrolled in a Cooperative Student program is preferred
  • Must be returning to full time studies once the temporary / work term assignment is complete
  • Agree to participate in a wage subsidy program offered to environmental employers
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
  • SharePoint, SAP, ServiceNow experience is an asset
  • Must possess strong organization, attention to detail, planning & communication skills
  • Effectively interact & work collaboratively with team members & cross functionally
  • Demonstrated ability to use diplomacy, discretion, and good judgement with a professional presentation
  • Demonstrated capability of strong interpersonal skills
  • Be self-directed and proactive
