ABOUT THE ROLE

 

We’re looking for a Co-op Student to join our Corporate Tax Team for a 1-year Co-Op term.  In this role, you’ll report to the Supervisor, Corporate Tax and play a key part in the day-to-day functions of the tax team.  This role requires you to be currently attending University in a Co-op program and be available to start in September for a 1 year term.

 

This position is based out of our Downtown Calgary Head Office, with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.

 

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE

 

  • Support the preparation and filing of indirect tax returns (GST/HST, PST, and other applicable jurisdictions)
  • Prepare tax working papers, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analyses
  • Support the preparation of Canadian corporate income tax returns and other compliance filings
  • Support the preparation of quarterly tax provisions
  • Prepare tax payments and journal entries
  • Assist with tax audits by compiling requested information and maintaining organized supporting documentation
  • Maintain organized tax files, documentation, and trackers to support compliance and reporting processes
  • Participate in improving tax processes, templates, and documentation by identifying inefficiencies and supporting implementation of improvements
  • Assist with tax research, data analysis, and other ad hoc tax projects as assigned

 

ABOUT YOU

 

  • Must be currently enrolled in a University Co-op program
  • Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Available to commit to the Co-op role for a minimum of 8-12 months, with a September 2026 intake preferred
  • Strong GPA or equivalent grades in 1st, 2nd or 3rd year courses
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in tax and/or accounting and finance
  • Clear communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, accountability and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills
  • Completion of a university level tax course is an asset
  • Experience with Excel, SAP/S4Hana, and TaxPrep, is an asset
