ABOUT THE JOB

 

We are currently seeking a FTR Trader to join our East FTR Trading Desk. The FTR Trader, East is responsible defining and transacting congestion trading strategies in the Eastern US markets (PJM, MISO, NYISO, ISONE and SPP).  Financial targets are outlined in the annual Traders plan for the East FTR desk.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Create and execute a business plan to deliver on annual budget goals
  • Deliver all day-to-day tasks of East FTR Trading including deal execution, deal entry, team meetings and strategy formation
  • Work with cross functional teams (Risk, Settlement and Credit groups) to resolve all trade and  financial discrepancies related to the Eastern business
  • Identify and mitigate enterprise risk associated with FTR Trading  
  • Guide and mentor junior personnel in analytic support and strategy generation
  • Strict adherence to TransAlta’s Trading Compliance Framework

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • University Degree in Commerce, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics or Computer Science

  • 5+ years related market and trading experience

  • Ability to process information and make sound decisions

  • Effective communication skills with internal / external stakeholders  

  • Proven ability to make optimum risk-reward decisions under time constraints

  • Self-starter with good time management

  • Proven ability to excel in a team setting
