Summary:

The position of Project Planner/Scheduler is accountable to apply best practice processes and standards for project: planning, scheduling, execution and completion to the organizing and controlling of large capital construction projects.   Projects are managed to meet the key performance indicators of safety, scope, cost, and schedule as well as other key performance indicators identified mutually with the stakeholders. The position is accountable to oversee the activities relating to completing the project work ensuring excellent safety performance by all. 

 

Accountabilities:

 

Including, but not limited to:

  • Ensuring safety and environmental performance standards are understood and followed during planning and execution of project work.
  • Creation of work packages, procurement of materials and construction of facilities in accordance with local laws, good engineering design practices and corporate policies
  • Assessment, evaluation and resolution of technical issues that may arise during project detailed design, construction and commissioning stages.
  • Working on more than one project concurrently and adjusting priorities as business dictates
  • Planning work requests for accurate job package creation, as per work management standards
  • Producing deliverables in alignment with immediate manager business plan and delivering agreed results
  • Planning and scheduling of Non-Turnaround Capital Projects
  • Confirmation of BOM for Equipment
  • Coordination of activities with stakeholders such as SCM, Operations or Engineering
  • Planning and scheduling of all approved Major Maintenance work scope for functional area including contractor and employee oversight

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum 10 years of planning and scheduling, having worked on gas fired generation projects for power generation and/or utility companies
  • Strong technical background with an understanding of the principles of project management, scheduling and planning
  • PMI designation would be an asset
  • Advanced skills in Primavera, MS Projects, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and SAP
  • Strong technical background with an understanding of scheduling and planning
  • Effective interpersonal skills, communication and teamwork skills
