ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an intermediate to senior Data Historian System Analyst that would join our IT Generation team based in Calgary to support our Data Historian systems.
To be successful in this role, you will have 5+ years’ experience working with time-series data with implementation experience in establishing, managing and maintaining data capture and supporting systems. You will have good working knowledge of the Purdue model with the ability to traverse between these layers, and the respective systems. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will collaborate with engineers, facility operators, networks and end user teams to establish and maintain data collection into our historian environments. Experience with AspenTech and Matrikon products would be an asset. Good analysis and communication skills are essential, knowledge of software development practices, system implementation and support process are an asset.
This role is based out of our Head Office in Downtown Calgary, with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Participate in various projects and initiatives, implementing and integrating applications with a focus on AspenTech IP21 platform and supporting products
- Collaborate on the architecture, design and implementation of the IP21 data historians, including asset modeling
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate various SCADA, RTU and RTAC systems
- Develop and maintain data trend views and reports within the historian.
- Work collaboratively with team members to establish troubleshooting and support processes
- Design and plan system enhancements, working with vendors and various stakeholders
- Help to manage and resolve incident responses and service requests, providing expertise in troubleshooting and resolving issues
- Support interfacing data analytics and other software with data historian
- Develop and document processes for support and monitoring practices
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
To be successful in this role, we are looking for the following essential qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree/diploma in computer science, business, science/technology or engineering
- 5+ years technical IT experience
- Engineering/Science Degree or Technologist Diploma (ie. Computer, Electrical, Mechanical background with interest in technology)
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with Process Data Historians, with preference given to AspenTech IP21.
- Working knowledge of SCADA, RTU and RTAC systems and communications protocols including OPC DA, OPC UA, DNP3, and Modbus for collecting data.
- Experience with Windows Server operating systems is a requirement.
- Experience with SQL server, ODBC connections including SQL, scripting views and stored procedure is an asset.
- Proficient with MS Outlook, Word, Excel
- Demonstrated excellence in Customer Service.
- Network Administration and Server troubleshooting is an asset.
- Knowledge of Python, JSON, Web API and PowerShell would be an asset.
- A detail-oriented individual who can bring enthusiasm and innovation to project teams
- Willingness to work co-operatively with others to achieve team goals and objectives
- Good written, verbal and organizational skills
