ABOUT THE ROLE

 

We are currently looking for a full-time Tax Advisor to join our dynamic Corporate Tax team! Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Tax, the Tax Advisor will be primarily responsible for the preparation of tax returns and income tax provisions, managing audits by various taxation authorities, performing research and providing tax advice for business transactions. This is a full time salaried position. 

 

RESPONSBILITIES

 

  • Lead the review of the Canadian tax provisions and analysis for external financial statement purposes

  • Preparation and review of the Canadian corporate income tax returns and other related filings

  • Preparation and revew of the Canadian tax filings and compliance requirements for the company’s foreign investments

  • Assist with CRA and other tax authority audits

  • Lead, coordinate, and execute tax planning and reorganization initiatives

  • Understand and minimize the tax exposure resulting from the foreign affiliate structure and cross border transactions

  • Research issues and provide tax advice for business transactions and M&A activities

  • Assist in developing and implementing process improvements

  • Provide mentoring and leadership for optimal performance of junior team members in producing agreed deliverables in a timely manner.

 

ABOUT YOU

 

  • Business/Accounting degree or equivalent

  • CPA designation with familiarity of the renewable energy industry preferred

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Canadian corporate tax.

  • Completion of the CICA In-depth Tax Program

    • Understanding of SOX controls

  • Proficient understanding of Canadian Corporate Income Tax, including Canada’s foreign tax regime

  • Exceptional understanding of accounting for income tax under IFRS

  • Dedicated team player with the ability and willingness to assume a hands-on role

  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment while working independently and meeting various deadlines
