ABOUT THE ROLE

 

TransAlta is seeking a highly organized and proactive Administrative Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our Centralia Plant. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, building relationships, and helping teams stay organized and productive.

 

As a key member of the site team, you will provide administrative, coordination, and logistical support to plant leadership and employees. You will help ensure office operations run smoothly, support employee engagement activities, coordinate vendor visits, and maintain accurate records and documentation.

 

This is a full-time, salaried position based out of our Centralia Plant in Centralia, WA.

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE

 

  • Provide administrative support to plant leadership and site personnel.
  • Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate appointments.
  • Coordinate logistics for internal meetings, training sessions, and site events.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and company programs, including assisting with community and charitable campaigns (such as United Way initiatives), distributing forms, tracking responses, and coordinating event logistics.
  • Welcome and coordinate site visitors, vendors, and contractors, ensuring site requirements and logistics are communicated effectively.
  • Assist with travel arrangements, catering, room bookings, and meeting preparations.
  • Prepare, format, proofread, and distribute correspondence, reports, presentations, and other business documents.
  • Maintain electronic and physical filing systems and records.
  • Coordinate administrative and financial support activities, including data entry, recordkeeping, invoice processing, purchase requisitions, and periodic banking deposits.
  • Order and maintain office supplies and coordinate office service needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teams across the business to provide timely administrative support and address day-to-day operational requirements.

 

ABOUT YOU

 

  • Post-secondary diploma in Administration is strongly preferred; however, consideration may be given to candidates with proven experience and demonstrated administrative capabilities.
  • 3+ years of administrative, office coordination, or related experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Strong data entry, filing, document management, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with SAP is considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with a broader team.
  • Experience supporting employees in an industrial, operations, manufacturing, or plant environment is considered an asset.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range is USD$46,200 – USD$64,000 at the time of this posting. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and/or training. The top end of the range is reserved for individuals with exceptional, directly relevant expertise and a demonstrated history of strong performance within TransAlta. This range reflects base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program and benefits.
