ABOUT THE ROLE

 

Our Centralia Mine is looking to hire multiple experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanics to join our Mine Reclamation team in Centralia, WA. Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, as the Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for safely troubleshooting and performing repairs on major rolling stock equipment, both mechanical and electrical systems.

 

Work will be performed at TransAlta's mine reclamation site, work is seasonal and expected to be available from April to October 2023This position follows a 4 x 10 hr shift (Monday - Thursday) work schedule at an hourly rate of 36.89 per hr. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

 

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance repairs on major rolling stock equipment, with regard to mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems

  • Primary maintenance responsibilities: 

    • Terex MT4400 electric trucks

    • Hitachi 3500 loader

    • Cat wheel-loaders of various size

    • Cat 777 mechanical haul trucks

    • Cat D11R, D10R, D8R, D7R dozers

    • Komatsu D375, D475 dozers

    • Cat 657E Scraper

    • Cat 16H Motor Grader

    • Cat 323F Excavator

    • WA900 Komatsu loader

  • Secondary maintenance responsibilities: 

    • Light duty pickup, forklifts, and Class 8 service trucks

  • Knowledge in the following areas would be beneficial: air conditioning and welding

 

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

 

(Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for qualifications)

 

Need to have:

  • Should have 5 - 7 years of experience in working with heavy industrial equipment

  • Must be able to consistently work in a safe manner

  • Ability to understand and follow mine safety and mine production policies and procedures

  • Ability to problem solve independently

  • Ability to communicate clearly

  • Ability to hear clearly (corrected or uncorrected)

  • Must possess good visual acuity (corrected or uncorrected)

  • Ability to regularly climb ladders

  • Occasional lifting of 30-40 lbs

  • Ability to work in all types of weather

  • Must be able to attend job reliably

  • Available to work shift work

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

 

  • This position is safety-sensitive therefore successful completion of pre-employment testing is a condition of employment
