We are looking to hire a Wind Electrical Engineering Intern for a 12–18-month term starting in September 2022. Based at TransAlta’s Pincher Creek Office in Alberta and reporting to the Plant Electrical Engineer – Wind & Solar Operations, you will work closely with the wind and solar electrical engineers and electrical engineering technologists to plan and implement engineering scope for power generation electrical projects. This role will also offer a blend of office time as well as time in the field.


Pincher Creek is an outdoor lover’s dream! It is close to Waterton National Park, Glacier National Park and Castle Provincial Park, all of which offer world class skiing, hiking, mountain biking and fishing opportunities.




As the Wind Electrical Engineering Intern, you will: 


  • Provide electrical engineering operational support of wind generating plant equipment such as substation, turbines, underground and overhead collector systems, SCADA systems, control systems, switchgear. protective relays, and transformers




To be successful in this role, we are looking for the following must-have qualifications and experience:


  • Must be an Electrical Engineering Internship Student (completing 3rd year academic studies in April 2022)
  • Must be a self-starter, demonstrate initiative, and be capable of working both independently and with others in a team environment


Nice to Haves


The following qualifications and/or experience are desirable, but not essential:


  • Industrial / generating plant experience​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​




  • Successful completion of required pre-employment testing is a condition of employment 
  • As this is a site based position, the successful student will need to relocate without company sponsorship to the Pincher Creek, Alberta
