Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Inspector, you will be a member of our Sarnia team and work within a multidiscipline group.

This position exists to perform pressure equipment inspections and integrity management services for the full inventory of regulated pressure equipment integrity across our Ontario generation fleet. As a Boiler and Pressure Integrity Inspector, you will be responsible to:

  • Manage the compliance our pressure equipment, specifically HRSG and associated equipment, complete all required inspections and repairs, alterations within the applicable provincial regulatory requirements for Ontario. 
  • Working with the Boiler Technical service group, support the local facilities HRSG and boilers to resolve technical issues.
  • Provide specialized pressure equipment inspection and management services to drive additional value of the facilities through a practical inspection program. 


Accountabilities:

  1. Provide, within regulation and the context and prescribed limits set by the Chief Inspector, pressure equipment inspection and management services across generation facilities in Ontario.  This will include the development, implementation, execution and managing of pressure equipment inspections, repairs, alterations and installations to satisfy the applicable provincial regulatory requirements for heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), vessels, piping and safety valves.
  2. Develop detailed inspection plans to satisfy regulatory requirements for the full inventory of regulated and non-regulated pressure equipment.
  3. Perform inspections, create inspection reports and document findings according to procedures and within an equipment information database.
  4. Interpret inspection results and identify any required additional inspections, repairs, replacements or mitigations. This includes deeming equipment fit for purpose.
  5. Identify and communicate detrimental equipment conditions, quality concerns and violations to code and procedures.
  6. Review, approve, monitor and document repairs and alterations to pressure equipment.
  7. Develop, implement and manage quality control plans for inspections, repairs or alterations to existing pressure equipment and the design, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning of new pressure equipment.
  8. Perform internal audits and quality control audits of external vendors and shops related to pressure equipment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of HRSG, pressure equipment inspection and management process and practices.
  • NBIC Commission or Engineering /Technical degree with a knowledge of inspecting, constructing or repairing or HRSG’s
  • TSSA Pressure Equipment regulation knowledge.
  • Knowledge of equipment inspection, repair and alteration practices in the power generation industry.
  • Knowledge of equipment condition documentation practices.
  • Process safety knowledge
  • Knowledge in the application of materials, material selection, welding and inspection and NDE techniques.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ASME Codes such as Section I / VIII / IX, V, and B31.1/31.3.
  • Knowledge of equipment condition documentation practices.
  • Knowledge and experience with reading and interpretation of plant drawings & datasheets: P&ID’s, piping and equipment.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of programs and working knowledge of SAP or a similar system
  • Excellent communication skills both written & verbal

 

The following qualifications are strong preferences to successfully complete the position accountabilities:

  • NBIC training or commission
  • P.Eng/EIT or 2 years Technical degree
  • API 510 with inspection experience of HRSG’s/Boilers

 

Other Qualifications that would be considered an asset:

  • CGSB certifications in Liquid Penetrant and Ultrasonic Examination
  • Certification in API 510, 570, API 653
