ABOUT THE ROLE

 

Provides support, coordination and supervision of the Instrument and Electrical Maintenance Team.

 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Accountable to foster a safe working culture while adhering to safe work practices, procedures, standards and policies.
  • Accountable for building and executing the weekly/daily assigned routine maintenance schedule and deploy the appropriate resources to meet the work requirements. Confirming daily work as completed in SAP. Populating daily permit list. For Instrument and Electrical Maintenance Team
  • Accountable to identify and execute work improvements.
  • Accountable to provide managerial leadership to Instrument and Electrical Maintenance Team which includes ensuring appropriate delegation, coaching, providing constructive feedback, holding them accountable for producing agreed deliverables, and supporting direct reports in using judgement and initiative in doing work.
  • Accountable to ensure that all work is performed safely and within TransAlta’s policies, procedures, standards, and collective agreements.
  • Accountable for providing input on the overall maintenance plan, assist planner with job package creation including required hour estimates, material and service requisitions and reservations, drawings, work history, safe work information, special tool requirements, task lists, feedback reports, etc
  • Accountable to understand and adhere to budget for functional area.
  • Accountable to think critically about the business and focus on continuous development
  • Accountable to establish team priorities to ensure task completion; coordinates daily work activities with other supervisors, accountable to coordinate, schedule and assist in executing capital projects assigned. i.e. turbine rebuilds, boiler I&R, HEP & FAC inspections, & other capital projects.
  • Accountable to provide input, advice, and feedback to Maintenance Lead and Major Maintenance Manager on identified equipment risks/opportunities, resourcing, competence issues and cost risks/opportunities.
  • Accountable to ensure plant policies, procedures and standards and standards are followed when executing projects.
  • Accountable to continuously improve work and related procedures, policies and standards.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Electrical related Journeyman Trade Certificate or Electrical Engineering Technology/Technician diploma with 5 years technical experience in plant utility or other industrial settings
  • Strong understanding of applicable regulations and legislations that apply to EHS and power generation business in Canada
  • Financial knowledge – estimating, cost tracking and forecasting spending.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications and enterprise resource planning tools (SAP)
  • Project management methodology
