ABOUT THE ROLE

 

TransAlta is seeking a Maintenance Technician – Certified Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at the Highvale Mine (SunHills) site.

 

Reporting to the Supervisor & Planner, Maintenance, this role is suited for a proactive and well-organized individual who thrives in a challenging work environment. The ideal candidate values safety in all activities while ensuring that assignments are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.

 

This is a full-time, safety sensitive position located at our Highvale Mine (SunHills) site, located just south of Wabamun Lake, approximately 65 kilometers west of Edmonton, Alberta. The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment testing.

 

This position is part of the USW and is governed by the terms of the collective agreement.

 

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Provide maintenance, installation, and repair functions on a site-wide basis
  • Work collaboratively with the team to complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and timeliness in all work performed
  • Assume other duties and/or responsibilities as required in response to changing operational, economic, and site conditions within the Reclamation Center or the Company

 

ABOUT YOU

  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Technician Trades certificate (4-year Off-Road Certification)
  • Experience with farm, agricultural, automotive, or light-duty equipment is considered an asset
  • Class 1 license is an asset; valid Class 5 license is required
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, uploads, downloads, data entry)
  • Commitment to working effectively in a team environment
