ABOUT THE ROLE

TransAlta’s Alberta Generation Services team is currently seeking to fill four (4) Seasonal Equipment Operator/Class 1 Driver positions.  

Reporting to the Supervisor, Alberta Generation Services, the Equipment Operators/Class 1 Drivers are responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment and/or tandem axle tractor driving for the purposes of seasonally dictated reclamation activities and winter snow removal. Other general reclamation activities will be performed as required. Applicants will be considered for the Seasonal Equipment Operator/Class 1 Driver positions based on relevant qualifications.

This is a seasonal, safety sensitive position based at our Highvale/SunHills building, located just south of Wabamun Lake, approximately 65 kilometers west of Edmonton, Alberta. The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment testing.

This in an IBEW Local 254 position covered by the terms of the collective agreement.

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Operate heavy farm and construction equipment to support daily site and field activities.
  • Assist with Keephills or Wabamun ash lagoon operations, ensuring safe and compliant material handling.
  • Perform general farming tasks, including fieldwork, equipment use, and seasonal duties.

 

ABOUT YOU

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in heavy equipment operations
  • Heavy equipment experience and/or tandem axle tractor driving experience
  • Grade 12 completion or equivalent required
  • Class 1 driver’s license required (for Class 1 positions)
  • Proficient in basic computer applications
  • Commitment to working in a team environment
