ABOUT THE ROLE

An exciting and challenging role within TransAlta’s Financial Systems Center of Excellence is now available. We are looking for an experienced Financial Systems Support Advisor. This is a senior level position providing business user support in our financial systems and processes as well as planning financial cut over in reorganizations and acquisitions. This is an exciting role that touches every function in our organization, with lots of opportunity for career growth and zero chance of boredom.

This position is based out of our Downtown Calgary Head Office, with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Provide financial system or process expertise on complex matters from source data to consolidated results.
Build strong relationships with cross‑functional departments to collaborate on system solutions.
Develop detailed workplans and cutover plans to support reorganization activities, including acquisitions, mergers, and consolidation efforts.
Partner on the preparation of financial statements and related financial statement components during transition events.

Maintain SAP system master data and related hierarchies where required.
Deliver necessary system and process training to keep TransAlta users up to date and maintain standards.
Use your system and organisational skills to step into challenging and exciting new project work as required.

ABOUT YOU

An accounting designation and post secondary education with 5+ years of relevant work experience in a financial systems support role.
Solid understanding of IFRS, SOX compliance, and financial statement preparation.
In depth experience with at least 3 of the following SAP modules: AA, AR, AP (VIM), PS, MM, TRM, CLM, BCS (BPC or Group Reporting)
Understanding of the interplay of MM, PM/EAM, SCM, Payroll, and Business Planning on core finance modules (FI/CO) and processes.
In depth experience with complementary tools such as Excel, Analysis for Microsoft Office, Power Query, BI.
Demonstrate substantial experience in daily support operations, along with adaptability and expertise to coordinate integration projects as needed.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a dynamic multi-stakeholder environment.
Strong attention to detail, time management skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize time sensitive deliverables with minimal supervision.

We are excited to have a new role for a Learning Systems & Instructional Design Specialist at TransAlta. This position is a full-time permanent role based out of our Downtown Calgary Head Office, with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.

Playing a critical part in shaping how learning is delivered across TransAlta, you’ll bring together enterprise‑level LMS expertise and modern instructional design to create impactful, scalable learning experiences.

This role sits at the intersection of systems, content, and governance. As the owner of TransAlta’s learning ecosystem, you will oversee LMS configuration, integrations, data quality, and compliance, while also designing engaging digital learning solutions that directly support business priorities and performance outcomes.

You will be instrumental in establishing and sustaining governance frameworks, standardised processes, and content lifecycle management and ensuring learning remains relevant, accessible, and measurable over time.

Working within a broader L&D ecosystem, this role partners closely with subject matter experts, HR, IT, and external vendors. The focus is on strategic system optimisation, governance, and priority learning initiatives, rather than end‑to‑end production of all learning content.

Partner with business leaders, HR, IT, and SMEs to identify performance gaps and define measurable learning objectives
Align learning solutions to organisational priorities, including safety, compliance, and operational performance
Influence adoption of standardised learning systems, processes, and governance frameworks
Design and develop high‑quality digital learning solutions (eLearning, microlearning, blended) using modern authoring tools
Apply adult learning principles, accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA), and instructional design methodologies
Package and deploy learning content using SCORM/xAPI/AICC standards with validated tracking and reporting
Configure and administer LMS components including catalogues, curricula, programmes, and assignments
Maintain LMS data integrity, system performance, security, and user access
Manage LMS integrations with HRIS and other enterprise systems to enable seamless learner experiences
Establish and sustain BAU processes for intake, prioritisation, and content lifecycle management
Lead release management, QA, and change control for learning systems and content
Define and report on learning effectiveness metrics, translating insights into continuous improvement and adoption initiatives

ABOUT YOU

Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, HR, Information Systems, Communications, or a related field
5–7 years of progressive experience in enterprise LMS administration and digital learning design, preferably in a corporate or regulated environment
Proven experience deploying and managing SCORM/AICC/xAPI content, compliance reporting, and audit support
Hands‑on experience with SAP SuccessFactors Learning
Experience with modern learning tools such as SAP Enable Now, Articulate Storyline and Rise, Camtasia, or Adobe Captivate
Advanced proficiency in LMS platforms, including system configuration, reporting, content management, and integrations
Strong technical knowledge of eLearning standards, HRIS data models, SSO, data privacy, and security protocols
Solid understanding of instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles
Strong analytical, project management, and problem‑solving skills, with experience using data and dashboards to drive improvement
Excellent customer service and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and support change and adoption initiatives

TransAlta is seeking a Plant Clerk II to provide administrative and clerical support within plant operations.

Reporting to the Manager, Bow Valley, this position plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of information across the site. The role supports operational teams by maintaining accurate records, coordinating administrative processes, and ensuring documentation and reporting activities align with established procedures and regulatory requirements. Working closely with plant personnel, the Plant Clerk II contributes to the overall organization, consistency, and effectiveness of day-to-day operations.

This is a full-time, safety sensitive position based out of Seebe, Alberta. Pre-employment testing will be required as a condition of employment.

This is a UUWA position covered by the terms of the Collective Agreement.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Preparing written materials such as correspondence, spreadsheets, graphs, charts, and reports in an accurate and efficient manner
Recording and distributing minutes for various plant meetings
Photocopying, distributing, and filing documentation for various tracking reports in SAP
Receiving, inputting, and processing data (e.g., goods receipts (GRs), requisitions, work orders, change orders, notifications, expense claims, etc.)
Processing, tracking, and maintaining schedules related to banked overtime, vacation entitlements, and training availability
Accurately receiving, processing, and entering time reporting information
Maintaining documentation in accordance with regulatory standards
Maintaining and updating the master filing system and assisting with document retrieval as required
Maintaining electronic files and backups, retrieving stored information as required, and supporting the development of indexing systems
Developing, maintaining, and executing standardised office policies, procedures, and processes

ABOUT YOU

Grade 12 High School Diploma or equivalent is required

ABOUT THE ROLE

TransAlta’s Alberta Generation Services team is currently seeking to fill three (3) Seasonal Equipment Operator positions.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Alberta Generation Services, the Equipment Operators are responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment for the purposes of seasonally dictated reclamation activities and winter snow removal. Other general reclamation activities will be performed as required. Applicants will be considered for the Seasonal Equipment Operator positions based on relevant qualifications.

This is a seasonal, safety sensitive position based at our Highvale/SunHills building, located just south of Wabamun Lake, approximately 65 kilometers west of Edmonton, Alberta. The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment testing.

This in an IBEW Local 254 position covered by the terms of the collective agreement.

Operate heavy farm and construction equipment to support daily site and field activities.
Assist with Keephills or Wabamun ash lagoon operations, ensuring safe and compliant material handling.

ABOUT THE ROLE

TransAlta is currently seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team in Kingston, Ontario.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing and coordinating daily mechanical and maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient operations. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a Millwright certification, and an Operating Engineer certificate is considered an asset. Candidates who do not possess both certifications will be required to enroll in a company-sponsored five-year apprenticeship program.

This is a full-time, salaried, safety-sensitive role based out of Kingston, ON. This is a safety-sensitive position. Successful completion of pre-employment testing is a condition of employment.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Perform, plan and coordinate power plant maintenance in accordance with laws, regulations, and best practices
Works closely with shift operators to ensure high standards of communication
If qualified, work as assistant day shift operator when required and assist with plant start ups and shutdowns
Works with other staff to ensure that health, safety and environmental systems are maintained and managed. This includes safe work plans, as well as the safe isolation of equipment and systems to perform maintenance work.
Takes an active role in plant training and development, procedure and systems development and management, as well as other project related activities
Key contributor to plant availability and performance targets
Point of contact for site mechanical contractors
Able to manage work orders in SAP and create Purchase Requisitions
Maintains a thorough knowledge of the plant systems and developments
Updates training material as changes to the plant systems are made
Takes an active role in first aid, emergency response situations, health and safety and environmental incidents
The successful person will be expected to participate in the incident management system and near miss program, reporting incidents in Synergi.

Millwright certificate preferred
Minimum 4th class Power (Operating) Engineer certification. Willing to consider applicants' workings towards 4th class or willing to complete.

TransAlta is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team.

This position provides technical expertise to support the safe and efficient operation of TransAlta’s generating stations. Responsibilities include management of plant projects required for plant upgrades, repairs and retrofits, technical research, evaluation of equipment options, cost estimating, troubleshooting, and ensuring regulatory compliance. As projects progress through their lifecycle, duties will include developing technical specifications, reviewing and evaluating bid proposals, performing design reviews, and providing technical oversight to ensure quality and reliability.

This is a full-time, safety sensitive position based at our Head Office in Downtown Calgary, Alberta, with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule and up to 30% travel to field-based sites. Successful completion of pre-employment testing is a condition of employment

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Undertake assigned electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering or multi-discipline projects for the generating fleet.
Supervise and perform engineering and project management work as requested across the business.
Provide technical leadership for engineering activities, including timely investigation and troubleshooting of electrical equipment issues and delivering sound recommendations.
Research and analyze technical solutions and equipment options in terms of cost and performance for engineering projects.
Interpret and apply industry standards and TransAlta best practices to ensure code compliance while balancing cost, quality, and reliability objectives.
Support major maintenance activities such as turnarounds and unplanned outages, including development of work scopes and inspection plans.
Assess, recruit, and manage consultants, contractors, and suppliers to meet project resource requirements, including bid evaluations, and contract reviews.

ABOUT YOU

Electrical Engineering degree from a recognized institution and registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA, or another provincial association with inter-provincial mobility.
Minimum 6–10 years of relevant experience in thermal/gas-fired power generation or a comparable industry (additional experience considered an asset).
Experience with power station operations, maintenance, construction and commissioning is an asset.
Experience with High Voltage Switchgear, MCCs, Motors, Generators, Transformers, Power System Analysis, Protection & Coordination.
Experience with Turbine Control Systems, DCS, PLCs, Fire Alarm Systems and SCADA is an asset.
