ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a strategic sourcing role focused on developing commercial strategies, analyzing spend and demand, and identifying opportunities to improve value, reduce risk, and strengthen supplier relationships. The role will lead complex sourcing initiatives, including the development and negotiation of Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and other long-term agreements with OEMs and key suppliers, while ensuring appropriate commercial and contractual protections are in place. It will also support strategic sourcing, commercial analysis, and contract development across a broad range of complex goods and services.

You will partner closely with internal stakeholders, Legal, Engineering, Operations, and key suppliers to understand business requirements, develop sourcing and contracting strategies, negotiate commercial terms, and establish agreements that balance value, flexibility, and risk.

A key part of the role is understanding contractual terms and conditions, recognizing where TransAlta’s standard terms are appropriate, where alternative or step-down provisions may be required, and when issues should be escalated to Legal.

The ideal candidate brings strong end-to-end strategic sourcing and contracting experience, commercial judgment, and the ability to translate spend, supplier, and business data into practical sourcing strategies.

This position is based out of our Downtown Calgary Head Office.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Develop and negotiate MSAs and other commercial agreements with OEMs, service providers, and strategic suppliers.
Work with business stakeholders to understand current and future requirements and translate those requirements into sourcing and contracting strategies.
Review commercial terms and conditions, identify contractual and commercial risks, and understand where standard, alternative, or step-down clauses may be appropriate based on the scope and risk profile.
Partner with Legal on higher-risk contractual matters while independently progressing commercial provisions within Supply Chain’s scope.
Develop contracting approaches that appropriately address pricing, warranties, liability, indemnities, insurance, performance obligations, change management, and other key commercial considerations.
Lead strategic sourcing initiatives from opportunity identification to commercial evaluations, benchmarking, total cost of ownership analysis, and supplier comparisons to support business decisions.
Lead supplier negotiations and develop negotiation strategies that improve commercial outcomes while protecting TransAlta’s operational and contractual interests.
Support supplier performance and relationship management for key strategic suppliers and OEMs, including governance, KPIs, commercial reviews, and continuous improvement.
Identify opportunities to standardize agreements, consolidate suppliers, improve commercial practices, and strengthen Supply Chain governance across the organization.

ABOUT YOU

Undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; SCMP or equivalent designation is an asset.
10-12 years of progressive strategic sourcing or contracting experience, including direct responsibility for complex sourcing initiatives and supplier negotiations.
Strong experience developing, negotiating, and administering MSAs and other commercial agreements.
Strong working knowledge of commercial terms and conditions and an understanding of how contractual provisions allocate commercial and operational risk.
Ability to independently review and negotiate commercial provisions, identify areas requiring alternative or step-down language, and recognize when Legal involvement is required.
Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting spend, supplier, pricing, and demand data to develop sourcing strategies and recommendations.
Strong commercial judgment and negotiation skills, with the ability to balance cost, risk, operational requirements, and long-term supplier relationships.
Ability to work effectively across functions and with senior internal stakeholders, Legal, technical teams, and suppliers.

TransAlta has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and passionate Wind Technician to join our Wind Operations team at our Windrise Wind Farm, located just 20km southwest of Fort Macleod, Alberta.

As a Wind Technician, you are primarily responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the Windrise wind asset through the application of operating and maintenance standards, procedures, and processes that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This is a Transalta position working along-side and taking direction from Siemens Gamesa and ensuring the portfolio adheres to TransAlta’s/Siemens operating model.

We are seeking a motivated Dam Safety Engineering Student to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Dam Safety team, supporting initiatives that ensure the safe and efficient operation of our dam infrastructure.

Provide general support to engineers, project managers, and technicians within the dam safety group.

TransAlta is seeking an Operating Technician to join the Operations team at our Kingston Generating Facility.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility. The Operating Technician operates, monitors, troubleshoots, and maintains power generation equipment and associated systems to support plant performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Working closely with Operations and Maintenance teams, this position contributes to preventive and corrective maintenance activities, outage planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and the achievement of operational and safety objectives.

This is a full-time, salaried role based out of our Kingston Generating station in Kingston, Ontario. This is a safety sensitive position which will require successful completion of pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Safely operate, monitor, start up, and shut down power generation equipment and auxiliary systems.
Utilize Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and other monitoring tools to optimize plant performance and reliability.
Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Troubleshoot operational issues and initiate work requests through the CMMS when required.
Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to support plant operations and maintenance activities.

ABOUT YOU

A First or Second Class Operating Engineer Certificate.
A minimum of five (5) years of operating experience in power generation or related large industrial facilities.
Experience operating and monitoring power generation equipment and industrial systems.
Experience using Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and industrial control systems.
A strong understanding of power generation equipment, plant operations, and maintenance practices.
Demonstrated troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in both routine and emergency situations.
A strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to maintain operational records and logbooks.
A valid driver's licence.
May be required to provide on-call support.

THE PERKS

A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$110,000 - CAD $150,000 at the time of this posting. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and/or training. The top end of the range is reserved for individuals with exceptional, directly relevant expertise and a demonstrated history of strong performance within TransAlta. Reporting to the Supervisor, Maintenance, this position is responsible for improving maintenance productivity through the effective planning, coordination, and scheduling of maintenance activities and resources. The Planner/Scheduler plays a key role in the execution of the maintenance work management process, supporting preventative, predictive, routine, and outage maintenance activities while helping to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operations.

This is a full-time, safety sensitive position based at Keephills Generating Station, located approximately 70 kilometres west of Edmonton, Alberta. The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete pre-employment testing.

Developing detailed maintenance work packages, including labour estimates, material requirements, service requisitions, drawings, work history, safety documentation, and task lists.
Planning and scheduling routine and outage maintenance activities to support operational reliability and asset performance.

UNE JOURNÉE TYPE

Hands-on experience with Switchgear/MCCs, motors, generators, transformers, power system analysis, protection and coordination, turbine control systems, DCS, PLCs, fire alarm systems, and SCADA.

Project management experience is an asset.

Transmit details of daily external short-term financing and foreign exchange requirements to TransAlta traders. Initiate inter-company lending transactions
Coordinate approval of large denomination cash transfers, both domestically and internationally, to ensure maximum cost and time efficiencies
Support business units by analyzing, verifying/confirming, and distributing banking transaction and balance information obtained from electronic banking systems for both domestic and foreign accounts; and advise and/or respond to inquiries regarding these transactions
Coordinate electronic funds transfers (EFTs) and liaise/follow-up with various bank and TransAlta representatives regarding disbursements and distributions

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Wind Technician, you will perform maintenance, service, repair, and installation of various wind turbine equipment and sub-systems up to a 3-month time span. In addition, you are accountable for executing the daily to three-month operations and maintenance plan in alignment with the Supervisor’s business plan in adherence to TransAlta’s operating model.

This is a full-time, safety-sensitive position based in Cap-Chat, Quebec. Successful completion of pre-employment testing is a condition of hire.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Ensure optimal performance through daily work scheduling, planning, and implementation of maintenance, service, and repair of wind turbine equipment as part of a team of wind technicians and contractors capable of producing the agreed deliverables.
Support the daily to three-month operations and maintenance plan in alignment with the Supervisor’s business plan through driving operational performance, achievement of business results, and continuous improvement
Provide operational compliance to EHS, NERC, OHS, etc., plant availability, and cost standards through adherence to TransAlta operating procedures, policies, and applicable regulations

ABOUT YOU

4–6 years of relevant experience in thermal/gas-fired power generation or a comparable industry (additional experience considered an asset).
Hands-on experience with Switchgear/MCCs, motors, generators, transformers, power system analysis, protection and coordination. Turbine control systems, DCS, PLCs, fire alarm systems, and SCADA a plus.
Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based software
Project management experience is an asset.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The Manager, Land Acquisitions is responsible for developing and executing land acquisition strategies that support the development, construction, operation, expansion, and acquisition and divestiture of energy infrastructure projects across Canada and the United States. Develop and execute land strategies supporting greenfield and brownfield development, acquisitions, divestitures and operational projects.

Advise project teams on site selection, title, zoning, access, competing land uses and land-related risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Commercial Negotiations & Land Agreements

Lead negotiations for complex land agreements, including purchases, options, leases, easements, rights-of-way, access and surface use agreements.
Establish commercial terms that balance project economics, landowner expectations and business requirements, partnering with Legal to structure and finalise agreements.
Present negotiation strategies, commercial risks and recommendations to senior leadership.

Title, Due Diligence & Land Risk

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, we’re looking for someone who brings:

In this position you will also provide technical guidance to project teams on title-related risks, mitigation strategies, and industry best practices.

Conduct and oversee complex title examinations and due diligence, including chains of title, recorded instruments, easements, rights-of-way, mineral interests, leaseholds and other real property interests.
Evaluate title and survey matters to identify risks related to ownership, access, boundaries, encumbrances, mineral rights and other interests that could affect project development, construction, financing or operations.
Develop and manage title-curative strategies, coordinating corrective instruments, releases, subordinations, affirmative coverage and other solutions to resolve material title issues and support project timelines.
